Marisa Vumbaca
Decorative Painting
As a decorative painter, I work with Art Directors, Photo Stylists and Photographers to translate their creative concepts into real space. Intensive training and professional experience has produced strong skills in both technique and execution.
Early Education
Growing up in Western Massachusetts, where my parents settled after immigrating from southern Italy, I quietly drew every chance I got. Through local community support in both encouragement and scholarships, I was able to attend Rhode Island School of Design and complete my BFA degree. That experience opened opportunities to study at Parsons Paris School of Design, the American University in Paris and Brown University. I continually develop my unending desire to learn by attending classes at City College of San Francisco.
Professional Experience
Following university, I ventured out to California where I co-owned a mural business for 10 years, specializing in Trompe L’Oeil grand-scale art. Client commissions included private homes, small business and environmental organizations. I worked as a scenic artist for local theater as well. A natural progression brought me to photo production; this is where my artistic career currently resides.
